At GDC today I had a brief opportunity to check out a few new VR demos for Sony's Project Morpheus headset and sit down with Shuhei Yoshida, Sony's President of Worldwide Studios, to talk about the state of the platform.

2K Games has laid off an unknown number of developers at Visual Concepts, the studio behind games such as NBA 2K and Lego 2K Drive.

“Well… the games industry bloodletting continues. Today Visual Concepts Austin laid off myself and a group of very talented developers,” said former art manager Brad Bowling on LinkedIn. “I have had a great time over the past couple of years working with some of the finest game devs in the industry. Over the past 23 years of making game art, I have seen some downturns but nothing like this.”

Epic has revealed the latest additions to the increasingly catch-all Icon Series, showing off the new character skins as well as their accessories. The Last of Us TV show has added actor Storm Reid (Euphoria) to its cast. According to Deadline, who reported the news first, Reid will play Riley Abel–Ellie’s best friend before she meets Joel.

In the PlayStation games, Riley is an orphaned girl growing up in post-apocalyptic Boston. She is prominently featured in The Last of Us: Left Behind, a DLC addition to the original game–memorably taking place in a wintry and decaying shopping mall.
